Here's a good look at the mom feeding the 3 baby birds. Abie would be playing outside and when she hears the baby birds chirping looks up and says, "baby? Birds."
However as Jacqie and the children were out playing with the sandbox last week, unexpectantly the nest fell down! Needless to say it was a cause for Jacqie to jump and scream since she was enjoying a moment's peace to read a magazine, nearly beneath the nest. Abie & Benjamin otherwise were oblivious to the event. While there were a few photos snapped Jacqie realized the mama bird nearby wanting to tend to her babies so the outdoor playtime was called short and to an end for the day. During the day Jacqie frequently looked out to see how they were faring.
Interestingly the 3 babies were all at different stages developmentally. While one was able to hop around well, another was struggling and the third could barely stand up, let alone hop. Mama bird was busy trying to keep them all fed as they roamed about and also trying to keep them in the shade to not get too hot. At one point she was sitting on one because it wouldn't stay under the tomatoe plant like she had been prodding. That evening they seemed to make their way over to the rivene. The Lewis family hopes they made it and are growing strong!
