Apples & Tomatoes

The Lewis' anxiously watched as the lone apple on the tree turned more and more red....counting down the days until school started hoping it would ripen before a school kid carelessly plucked it from the tree.... Then they agreed it was time a week before the first day of school. It was a momentous event to enjoy the first (and last) apple of the season as a family. Granted still a bit tart, but quite enjoyable to taste of their own blossoming orchard.


Thanks to an invitation from a friend to pick some tomatoes from her plants, correction: bushes! J and her canning buddy went to work on diced tomatoes and tomato sauce. They even went back for a second round! Now the Lewis' are savoring the ripe tomatoes from their own garden with numerous new recipes that are delicious! The love of the end of summer!
